I was just reflecting on my long career playing music for people. Over the years, I’ve been blessed to collaborate with some of the most talented artists in the game. One of the folks I’m most proud to call a friend and collaborator is the iconic electronic music Queen, Lady Alma. She’s one of the most prolific artists to come out of Philly, often making music that’s so futuristic that even songs that are 20+ years old still sound ahead of their time. She has a set a precedent for working with producers and artists from around the world often blurring the lines between funk, house, nu-jazz, brokenbeat, hip hop, and straight ahead R&B.
While not dropping any full length albums, instead mostly dancefloor anthems on single 12”s for 2 decades now, she’s built a catalog revered by both underground artists and pop culture icons. She’s a Philly ambassador who makes me proud to also rep the city.
I say all this to say you’d be doing yourself a favor to check out our mixtape series in which I had the pleasure and honor of compiling some of her amazing records into cohesive DJ mixes that feel so damn good if I must say so myself.
