In the interest of keeping my head on straight and expressing my deep love of music throughout the years, I’ve created quite a few mixtapes. My OG, Jazzy Jeff told me back in 2000 to utilize my skill as a selector and turntablist to create mixtapes that will last with people while they’re unable to hear me play live. It was my first time meeting him and he was so generous to offer that. I never forgot the advice and continue to try to produce pieces of content that will age well.

That being said, my mixtape series, I’m most proud of is the IVC Lounge Collection. It was started back in 1999 after I was inspired by my friend DJ Data who has really good taste and would play all sorts of weird and funky tunes at house parties and on mixes of his own. I wanted to share music I wouldn’t play at some of our college ragers and big room clubs but the stuff I loved to listen to at home. Artists like Fela Kuti, Thievery Corporation, DJ Mitsu, and 4Hero keeps me alive inside. My hope is that you can use this music to help keep your mind in a better place and that you learn 3 or more artists you didn’t know of before.
